Inside the Instant Noodle Production Line
Instant noodles are a global sensation—quick to prepare, easy to store, and full of flavor. But few people know how these tasty noodles are made in factories. Behind each pack is a sophisticated instant noodle production line designed to produce high-quality noodles at scale, while ensuring food safety and consistency.
Here’s a clear overview of how an instant noodle making machine transforms raw ingredients into the crispy, curly noodles millions enjoy every day.

Step 1: Ingredient Preparation
The process starts with wheat flour, the main ingredient in most instant noodles. Salt and an alkaline solution (usually sodium carbonate) are added to give the noodles their chewy texture and help maintain their shape during cooking.
Step 2: Mixing and Dough Formation
The dry ingredients are blended with water in a large mixer to form dough. This dough is then kneaded and passed through rollers multiple times until it becomes a smooth sheet.
Modern instant noodle production lines use automated rollers to maintain dough thickness and texture.
Step 3: Cutting and Steaming
The dough sheet is cut into thin noodle strands by a noodle cutting machine. These strands are then steamed to cook them slightly and set the structure before drying.
Step 4: Drying and Shaping
The noodles are dried using one of two methods:
Deep-frying (for traditional crispy instant noodles)
Hot-air drying (for healthier, non-fried options)
At this stage, noodles are shaped into blocks or round cakes to fit packet or cup packaging formats.
Step 5: Cooling and Packing
Once dried, the noodles are cooled down to room temperature. They’re then packaged along with seasoning sachets, which may contain powder, oil, or dehydrated vegetables.
Fully automated packing systems ensure hygienic sealing and consistent portioning.
Step 6: Quality Control and Distribution
Every batch of instant noodles goes through strict quality inspection before being shipped to supermarkets. This includes checking noodle weight, texture, and packaging integrity.
